Sichuan Times Power Batttery Phase One Project Put into Operation

June 17, 2021, Yibin, China, Sichuan Times New Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sichuan Times”), a wholly owned subsidiary of CATL, power battery phase one project was put into operation officially. Leaders from provincial and municipal levels in Sichuan, chairman of the board of CATL and representatives from several supply chain enterprises attended the ceremony.
Liu Zhongbo, municipal party secretary of Yibin said, the operation of Sichuan Times power battery phase one project was a successful cooperation between Yibin city and CATL, was another milestone for CALT in building world-class new energy vehicle power battery R&D and production base, and marked Yibin new energy vehicle industry and lithium battery coordinated development enter a new phase.

Zeng Yuqun, chairman of the board of CATL said, Yibin base is an important part in CATL global layout and will be of great strategic significance and importance in southwest area after establishment. Yibin base will provide supporting services to national and even global cooperative partners with higher efficiency.

Since September 2019, CATL has signed phase one to six of Sichuan Times power battery project with Yibin city, which covers an investment of over ¥30 billion and an area of about 200 hectares. After establishment of Yibin base, power battery will be transported to Chengdu or Chongqing vehicle production lines within three hours thanks to convenient transportation conditions in Yibin, which will largely increase transportation efficiency. At the same time, the abundant water resources in Yinin can meet the demands of cutting carbon dioxide emission in production and manufacture and achieve carbon neutrality in the whole life cycle of power battery.
