BYD invested RMB4.5 billion in commercial vehicles in Brazil

July 12, 2023, Brazil, On July 4 local time, BYD and the government of the state of Bahia in Brazil jointly announced their plans to establish a large production base complex in the city of Camaçari. The project will consist of three factories with a total investment of 3 billion Brazilian reais (approximately 4.5 billion Chinese yuan), further advancing BYD's globalization process.

The BYD Brazil production base complex will include three factories: one for the production of electric buses and truck chassis, one for the production of new energy passenger vehicles, and one for the processing of lithium iron phosphate battery materials. The new energy passenger vehicle production line will cover both pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with a planned annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The lithium iron phosphate battery material processing factory will make use of local port resources to meet the growing global demand for new energy products.

The BYD Brazil production base complex is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2024 and is expected to create over 5,000 job opportunities locally. Mr. Li Tie, General Manager of BYD Brazil, expressed, "Enterprises should create value and give back to society. We will establish a localized production team, carry out a series of training activities, enhance employees' professional skills, and contribute to the local economic and social development."

With the construction and operation of the BYD Brazil production base complex, BYD will continue to deepen its global layout and actively promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the global new energy industry through its advantages in the entire industry chain.
