BYD Introduces New Electric Truck in Partnership with Beverage Company

October 13, 2023, Mexico, Recently, BYD's Mexico subsidiary partnered with FEMSA and Coca-Cola FEMSA to create electric logistics trucks for the beverage industry, with a shared commitment to promoting electric vehicles to reduce carbon dioxide and pollution emissions.

The electric freight truck was developed based on the specific needs of Coca-Cola FEMSA's operations in Mexico. Its chassis can accommodate 14 low-profile pallets, meeting the safety standards of bottlers and Coca-Cola companies. The vehicle is powered by batteries, with a charging time of 1.5 to 2 hours, and is adaptable for 8, 10, or 12 pallets.

This collaboration aligns with FEMSA and its business units' Sustainable Transportation program's goals of incorporating renewable energy into their operations, linking all businesses to sustainable energy while complying with existing regulations to contribute to climate change mitigation. The electric trucks from this partnership will undergo a six to eight-month pilot program starting in October 2023, operating on various routes in the Valley of Mexico according to testing requirements set by the Coca-Cola FEMSA Traffic Committee to assess operational performance, infrastructure technology, and cost evaluations.

BYD's Mexico subsidiary and Coca-Cola FEMSA began their collaboration in March 2021, developing trucks equipped with 14 low-profile pallets to provide electric logistics solutions for the beverage industry. As of now, Coca-Cola FEMSA has 26 BYD electric vehicles in Mexico, including forklifts, trucks, light-duty vehicles, and sales vehicles. In addition to promoting electric trucks with Coca-Cola FEMSA, BYD's Mexico subsidiary has also delivered multiple pure electric commercial vehicles to large Mexican beer production and distribution companies, including Grupo Modelo and Corona Mexico, contributing to the green transformation of Mexico's logistics industry and revitalizing the transportation ecosystem in Mexico.
