Its autonomous freight truck Robovan (hereinafter referred to as "WeRide Truck" ") was approved to carry out "pure unmanned testing" and "cargo loading testing" of self-driving urban freight trucks in Guangzhou. The testing scope covers 6 administrative districts including Baiyun District, Huadu District, Panyu District, Huangpu District, Nansha District and Haizhu District. There are a total of 797 test roads in Nansha and Nansha, with a two-way mileage of 3,247 kilometers.
This is China's first license for purely unmanned remote testing of L4 autonomous freight vehicles in an urban open road scenario. It is also China's first autonomous freight vehicle loading test event that supports 7X24 full-time testing, further paving the way for WeRide Zhixing to move towards autonomous driving. It provides strong support for the commercial operation of intra-city freight.
The WeRide freight truck is China's first L4 self-driving freight truck. It is developed using the Jiangling Light Bus BEV model and is equipped with WeRide Zhixing's full-stack software and hardware solutions. It has 360° blind-spot sensing capabilities, a fully redundant chassis and intelligent the driving system can realize all-day and all-scenario operation, covering road scenes such as urban centers, urban villages, and highways, providing efficient, cost-reduced, and digital self-driving freight solutions.
In order to meet its large-scale commercial application needs, WeRide has developed a cloud control platform and an autonomous driving freight app, which can view operating routes and autonomous driving status in real time, and support voice customer service, vehicle positioning, order status management, and delivery progress. At present, WeRide has cooperated with a number of well-known Chinese logistics companies to launch a pilot commercial operation of autonomous driving urban freight in Guangzhou International Bio-Island. During the pilot period, it transported more than 50,000 pieces of goods every day.
