Yuchai developed domestic largest power flywheel integrated range extender

October 28, 2022, Guangxi, China, Recently, Yuchai Synland Tech's first 400kW high-power range extender was successfully trial-manufactured, marking the successful development of the most powerful integrated flywheel range extender in China. The launch of this product fills the blank in highly integrated large-power range extender market in China, and also means that Yuchai Synland’s new energy power product spectrum is becoming more and more perfect.

With the introduction of the national "dual carbon" strategy and "14th Five-Year Plan", the new energy power industry is accelerating in development. At present, special vehicles and high-power power generation equipment have an urgent need for new energy power. However, due to the extremely high requirements on the size and weight of the power system for end products in this field, the existing "independent motor + range extension" in the industry often leads to the inability to meet the adaptation requirements because of excessive volume and weight. Improving the degree of integration and light weight has become the top priority of power system design in this field.
 

In order to solve this problem, Yuchai Synland makes full use of its experience and advantages in the integrated development of the engine and flywheel integrated motor coupling type. The Yuchai Synland 400kW range extender adopts the solution of YCK16+400kW permanent magnet synchronous motor to achieve electromechanical coupling hybrid control, among which the 400kW permanent magnet synchronous motor is Yuchai's original flywheel integrated permanent magnet motor, which greatly reduces the weight and size of the product compared with the independent motor solution, ensuring higher integration level, lower self weight and also providing more potential space and safety guarantee for the lightweight design of other key components.

After the whole machine test, the motor efficiency of the Yuchai Synland YCK16+400kW range extender solution is as high as 96%, and the maximum power generation per liter of diesel is 4.45kWh/L, which is over 23% higher than the industry level.

In addition to outstanding performance, Yuchai Synland 400kW range extender also has the advantages of small size, high flexibility, strong adaptability, small inertia, fast acceleration, etc., and can be applied to special vehicles, power generation equipment, and large mining vehicles, ships and other fields. After the successful research and development, the 400kW range extender will soon be transferred to the end product supporting stage, helping Yuchai to accelerate and lead the new energy power development.

According to the market demand and future development trend, Yuchai Synland will adhere to the development route of "from low carbon to zero carbon, hybrid power, pure electric drive and hydrogen energy power go hand in hand" to help Yuchai achieve the "1235" strategic goal.
